What is the new plan and will my price remain the same?
Beginning Wednesday, August 15 we will be rolling out a new subscription plan that allows monthly subscribers to see up to 3 movies per month for $9.95. Members will be able to see up to three standard movies a month for $9.95, and be given between a $2.00 to $5.00 discount to any additional movie tickets purchased within the billing cycle.
This will be the only monthly subscription available. Users will have the option to opt-in to this plan starting today, through a pop-up in the MoviePass app.
I’m on an Annual/Quarterly subscription, am I affected by the new plan?
Quarterly and annual subscribers will not be impacted until their renewal date. At the time of your renewal, you will have the opportunity to opt-in to the new monthly plan.
I’m on a $7.95 capped plan. Am I affected by these changes?
We will no longer be offering the $7.95 capped plan. Before your next billing date, you will be prompted to opt-in to our new $9.95 a month plan.
When does the new plan take effect?
You have the option to opt-in to the new plan starting today, but it will not go into effect until your next billing cycle.
How many movies am I allowed to see on the new plan?
Members will be able to see up to three standard movies a month for $9.95, and be given between $2.00 to $5.00 off for any additional movie tickets purchased within the billing cycle. Discounts on additional tickets will be calculated by various factors including geography and the movie title. The remaining balance for the ticket will be charged to the credit card linked to your MoviePass account.
Is there a way to remain on my existing plan?
You will be able to remain on your existing plan through the end of your current billing cycle. If you have not opted in to the new plan before reaching the end of your current billing cycle, your account will be suspended. The next time you open the app, you will have the option to sign up for MoviePass again and reactivate your membership.
When do I have to decide if I want the new plan?
You have until the end of your current billing cycle to opt-in to the new plan, which will be prompted in the MoviePass app starting today. We will be sure to notify customers both in the app and by email prior to their renewal date.
Is the new plan subjected to Peak Pricing or Ticket Verification?
Peak Pricing and Ticket Verification will be suspended under the new plan. Annual subscribers may still be subject to ticket verification until they transition to the new plan.
Will new release movies be supported?
The new plan will include many new releases, however, there will be some exceptions (note that theaters with e-ticketing will include all movies and showtimes with no restrictions).
Will all showtimes be supported? How will I know which blockbusters are available?
Popular showtimes may continue to be limited for a short period, but we will continue to add additional seating availability as our users migrate their plans. We encourage our members to always check the MoviePass app for the latest films and showtimes before leaving for the theater.
